July 2009... Handfast Ceremony
Grimspound Border planned and performed a Handfast Ceremony in July 2009, our Blacksmith member was central in the ceremony and the dancers danced a special dance called 'Knot for the Tying'. The ceremony took place in the open air (during one of the rare sunny periods of 2009!). We received the following 'Thank You' card from the couple:

“Dear all at Grimspound, We just wanted to say a massive, massive thank you for all your work at our Handfasting. The ceremony was so special and we thank you all for making it so. We had so many amazing comments from the guests about you, they all thought you were fabulous. We are so glad to have you all as part of our Handfasting – it was such a special day that will be remembered by many people for years to come. We hope to see you for a pint soon. Love Lucy & Chris."

13 August 2009... Dartmoor Folk Festival.
From Stella and Terry.:
'You were the highlight of the Festival!! We have put one of your dances on Youtube (click here) .
Looking forward to seeing you again.'

12th July 2009... Quote of the weekend from a Priddy Festivalgoer : - “You guys have re-defined Morris Dancing”.
Extract from Priddy Folk Festival website 2009:
'Among those appearing in the folk dance festival were the Appalachian Beetlecrushers and the black-faced Grimspound Border Morris team, whose muscular performance with 2ft-long wooden staves was more akin to a martial art than a folk dance – indeed, it might be preferable to have one of the Grimspound dancers at one's side in a tricky spot than a karate expert or a ninja.'
